PROJECT: "MY DREAM HOUSE" POSTER

Challenge:
  • DRAW A POSTER depicting your “Dream House” (梦想房子 = mèng xiǎng fāng zǐ).
    • Draw a blueprint or other creative design on poster paper. Please include colors!
    • Include multiple rooms, levels, and pieces of furniture (in each room) in your Dream House. Label all the major places and areas in your Dream House.
    • Describe the features of your Dream House and explain your design choices.
    • ​​​​The finished poster should be creative, compelling, and professional.​

In-Class Activity:
  • ​Hang up your Dream House Poster along the walls of the classroom.
  • Divide into two groups, "Visitors" and "Owners."
    • Visitors: Walk around the classroom to look at all the Dream House Posters and talk to the Owners. Use the Worksheet to rate everyone's Dream House.
    • Owners: Stand next to your Dream House Poster and talk about your house. Describe its features, layout, surroundings, etc. Explain why your Dream House is so great.
  • Switch groups! The Visitors become Owners and vice versa.
  • Vote on the best Dream House (you cannot vote for your own). Winners receive prizes!

PROJECT: NATIVE CHAT

Challenge:
  • Record a video with a native speaker of Chinese. In this video, please talk about your living quarters and about your school campus. Perform all the following tasks:
    • Talk about the number, size, and appearance of the buildings at your school.
    • Talk about the layout and furniture of buildings at your school.
    • Talk about the surrounding environment at your school.
    • Talk about the layout and furniture of your living quarters.
    • Talk about the environment of your living quarters.
  • Must be at least 5 minutes long. ​​

PROJECT: STORYBOOK

Challenge:
  • Write a creative story or dialogue about "starting school." Make your story come alive with pictures.
    •  Use every word and structure in Level 22.
    • Add pictures or photographs to every scene in the story.
    • Create a physical version of your book.
